Mighty Greys AGM 11th November 2022 at Ben’s

MIGHTY GREYS AGM 2022 – live from Ben’s workshop 7:30 start, 11th November, 2022 

Present: EO, Dave Day, Bif, Dom, Tel, Duncan, Chiefy, QB, Robbie H, Alex, Diamond Dan, Jerry, Del, Trev, Hatrick – 15 in all

We begin 8pm.

We thank Alex for all his effort this year – fantastic effort – especially noting all the emergency fixtures this year – what a star!! 

NETS! 

  1. Began last week 
  2. Lots of difficulty getting a response in the past 4 months 
  3. Thursday 8-9 in Lancing until end of December.  
  4. BACCA will prioritise year-long bookings and they will get back to us about a potential booking after Thursday 8-9. We could carry on after xmas for £24 with possibly 2 lanes. ATM we get 2 lines for the price of 1 at Lancing.  
  5. We vote to let Dom sort it out. Various options to explore are partnering with Palmers, or keeping Lancing, or moving to BACCA after new year.  
  6. We vote to keep cost of nets at £7 

Captain’s report. 

  1. Slightly streaky start….record breaking win at Upper Beeding….play all games but one…thanks to Jonny Fixtures for making it all happening and finding last minute opponents….bit of a dodgy  
  2. Standout game: complicated game in Surrey 
  3. Beat Findon for the first time 
  4. Tie at Hailsham, 12 year old cried thanks to Dunc – Richard Partridge award 
  5. Low point was Jevington  
  6. We used 39 players this year – largest year ever! 28 last year 
  7. Albie making debut! 
  8. We need another regular player and wicketkeeper next year. Alex’s osteopath has said that he needs to stop doing it. 
  9. We will need to prioritise a keeper 
  10. Need to be a bit more on it with regard to match reports – not be too harsh on occasionals. We need a backup on this. 
  11. Need to ritualise match fee payment.  
  12. Standout bowlers this year were the bowlers 
  13. Dom more destructive than ever with the bat 
  14. Dunc innings at Steyning

Treasurer’s report. 

  1. BAKEOFF! 
  2. When I play every game – match reports get paid. 
  3. I have found it very difficult this year.  
  4. Tour was virtually impossible to fund. RECEIPTS are needed. 
  5. We have £246 in the bank (this figure approximately double if all payments made).   
  6. Rick calls Bif ‘Bitch’ by accident
  7. Aim to have all match fees paid by the following week. 
  8. Chiefy says’ rhetorical question’ but means ‘practical question’. 
  9. When we pay: put on the reference the opponent!

  • we will have some training on scoring and umpiring 
  • we need a new scorebook – it’s no good for fall of wicket?

  • Terry knows how to do the digital, real time, live updates on the playcricket website? Robbie says it’s not worth it. We vote for Tel to go back through the decades.

    • Tour house: we are booked in again! But still not sure about costs. £1200-1300 region  
    • Dom suggests £5 match fees because no teas. We all agree to keep it as it is (£10 for match fees). If you can’t pay, no problem.  
    • Rob proposes a new whatsapp group for every week. We vote to have a weekly whatsapp group for each match.
