Skipper’s Report 2025

Season Outline:

Started out with a great win against RAM CC and a new TMG star in Ejaz. Chris played his first game for the Greys  and little did we know at the time that he would go on to play 20 games, open the bowling, take 27 wicket, 13 catches and score 123 runs down the order.

The low point of the season came early with a miserable injury affected game at Cuckfield. We lost the iron chancellor for the season, Dave Day for most of the season and Dom

Injuries There isn’t really any point in us throwing ourselves around. I’d rather lose a few runs than lose a player to injury. I’m as guilty as anyone throwing myself into nettles after a lost cause in a rained off game. I guess that also means cutting people a bit of slack if they don’t throw themselves around.

Faced a very good bowling performance from Twineham

Then went on a strong run of 4 wins,

Including a brilliantly paced chase at Fletching (a game they REALLY wanted to win) and A great compliment from their skipper about our canniness as a team. hA d a close fought game at Bodle St. for once which we can out on the wrong side of but hopefully ensured Bodle don’t lose interest in playing us again.

We had a superb tour, winning both games but it was really EO stealing the show winning both PSMs, one for an act of athleticism, then next for what must be regarded as his magnum opus of arse flashes (it’s difficult to see how he’ll ever top it but I have faith that he will), and perhaps also his greatest work of match report writing.

Massive win at Horsted Keynes with big innings from Del and Tom.

Less successful 2nd half of the season as we seemed to struggle with availability and the results were mixed . and had to search around but a superb team performance at Findon

And one of the all time great greys performances fro Tim in the last game against BH

Rejuvenated Shadow- leading wicket take, county call up.

4 century makers,

Absolutely incredible effort by the officers of the club- Iron chancellor/Statto despite only playing 2, fixtures as always, dom as vice skipper 100% record

Incredible effort from Biff to be most capped player despite living in Kent.

Great to have Louis, Dev and Ashu in as a new regular towards the end of the season. 35 players used.

Final analysis is 14 wins to 8 losses and another stinking season DFWTMG!
