Part One: Officers Reports:
- Captain –
All in all a great season – very good if not record beating win loss ratio.
The new nomadic netting alliance proved to be a big success, we managed to bring the cost down, and go from making a loss to a profit, and blood new players that would make a big impact over the season. It set us up for the year nicely.
For a very wet spring and remembered as a wet yearFears it would be a late start to season with waterlogged pitches, but somehow in the end we only lost one game to the weather ( is that right?)
We got to play the season opener at Horsted Keynes, where cricket was first recorded 400 years ago.
Started with 4 straight wins- HK, Horley, Twineham, and Grasshoppers Felt like a game that didn’t want to happen – Oppo dropped out 40 ish unavailable players, we could only field 10, Dom locking himself in his flat, no wicket keeper (despite stretching Greys reserves to the absolute limit mute AlexRicky coming back a bowling brilliantly, Me and then Dom (after the locksmith had come to let. And despite the Oppo supposedly having an ex-hampshire player, we won!
Dom and Joe Walker wicket keeping which has solved a big headache, gave Jake and James their debuts, going on to be a big part of the team as the season went on.
Then we lost to Caners AGAIN!
Lost a very tight and exciting game at pathfinders
Had a traditional Sunday tour performance at Luppitt.
Mid season break No team, then rained off
2 wins at the Wellington (which ended up in the national press), and Streat
Another narrow last over loss at Findon
THEN Tommy Nicks entered the fray with what must be the most explosive start to a greys career, showing total disregard for Greys all time records. 37 years of Greysmen toiling away doing their impressions of batsmen their best and he just comes in and wipes them off the top of the leader boards and takes 3 consecutive PSSMs Fantastic work!
Truly incredible record breaking game at Headliners which featured 650 runs in the day, the highest team score, highest individual score
Loss at Littlehampton. Young batsman who was too good for us on the day.
A great closer against B&H crescent which went to the last over.
Tim’s injury
Having these players who can all bat, bowl and field has made the job of captaincy that much easier. We feel really well balanced between older and younger Greysmen at the momentOnly really struggled to get a team together once
Jake becoming regular outstanding catching and utility player.
So the final analysis is we won 15 and lost 5, 75% win ratio and set up rather nicely for next season. DFWTMG!
- Vice Captain – Dom said Biff had a good season with the bat. Great to have new people. Adam was responsible for bringing Jake and Tom into the team. Jake did alright. Tim Laing did really well and would have won the batting trophy had he not got injured. Future secured, etc. Susie Dent word of the day – the opposite of Schaedenfruede.
- Treasurer – solid financial performance. Showing small loss but only because it includes some prepaid nets. Terry thanks Robbie for his service.
- Secretary – see attached notes. Biff suggested either bring a Warning Lid to provide an incentive to submit a match report. Alex – reported a problem with commenting on the website. DE to discuss with tech people about how to sort out some of the problems. Biff to produce a new “winged pine martin” for a punishment. Ricky Southon arrived.
- T20 team (Sussex Slam) – as attached.
