TMGs vs Brunswick Village September 2010 by Biffo Line

Having managed to lose the scoresheet again this report may be light
on detail but i shall endeavour to give a feel of the day. now i
think of it that could be a great new post match feature.
so tmg’s last game of a hard fought season was at the nice pitch at
st.james’ against one of our favourite opponents. the greys batted of
course and were served well by the opening pair , the seasons top two
run getters. after a fine stand at a brisk rate biff was dismissed at
cow corner going down the pitch. an almost audible intake of breath
all around the packed ground as all present realised he had fallen
agonisingly only 162 runs short of jerry’s season total. the sombre
mood in the pavilion was only relieved when it was pointed out that
with del going in on a flat track we wouldn’t have to listen to his
‘jokes’ for some time. jerry and del both collected fiftys and the
greys posted a very respectable two hundred and something off 35 overs.
during the tea interval ben was heartwarmingly heard to remark that
he was happy to not get a bat as it meant the greys were doing well,
a clear winner in the captain oates award. io was not available for
comment.

Excellent but largely wicketless opening spells ensured the batsmen
were behind the required rate, with the only early dismissal by way
of a spectacular run and full length diving catch in the outfield by
the skipper(i’ll leave it at that but its not easy to let go).
yet more drama ensued as ibrahim refused to have his fingers prised
from the bowling trophy by dd , his second wicket bringing him level
with the big lefty and a first ever shared award. further great
bowling and an all round electric display in the field ensured that
tmg ran out convincing victors and to paraphrase lou reed it was a
perfect day to end the season on and i’m glad i spent it with you.
