TMGS vs Warninglid May 2009 by Jerry Brasher

With a won 1 lost 1 record for the season the mighty greys headed to warninglid and after a quick inspection of the wicket they immediately retired to the pub garden to discuss tactics and whether ian really did think he could fall “up” a hole.

After electing/being put in to bat the greys made a slow start against some very wayward bowling . jerry and terry were both bowled for ducks but adam and biff , who went on to make a superb 70 odd , steadied the ship amassing runs through a mixture of wides and byes until adam cut loose with a six over cover . wickets fell through the innings but with alex and dave picking up the tempo we finshed on   177 thanks in no part to warrninglids total inability to catch.

After a tea involving both spam and corned beef we took to the field with ricky and tim opening the bowling . they set off briskly heklped by (to put it politely ) some average bowling before rob ( who was later to desert us in our hour of need ) took a great catch at deep midwicket to get rid of one of the openers . runs continued to come and wickets to fall and after a run out , a catch each from biff and jerry (not a bad one even if i say so myself ) they needed about 10 off the last 2 overs with 1 wicket in hand ; unfortunately a couple of boundarys meant a warninglid victory by 1 wicket with 3 balls to spare with their opener carrying his bat.

Another close game against warninglid with ,sadly, not the usual outcome of a greys victory. …..
