Having met for the game almost a day in advance the mighty greys were eager to rack up …….. a hefty total on the artificial wicket at Twineham after winning the toss . Jerry was out early caught in the slips off a 90 mph ball that swung and seamed (twice) or something like that, which brought del to the wicket ; helped by another good knock from the skipper they scored steadily with del helped by being dropped on 2 off a regulation chance at fine leg .
After a few wickets including a particularly fine trio of non-shots by ben at one ball which pitched middle and bowled him middle and a few trade-mark burgess cover drives ….sorry… slaps to fine leg dave joined del to well and truly turn the screw with del ending on 143 n/o and dave 40n/o and T M G ‘s on 232-6 .
After another fine tea including that blast from the past coronation chicken T M G ‘s opened with ricky and dave and both runs and wickets occurred including Ibrahim’s first catch for the club .Biff mixed the bowling up well (code for bowled himself again) with a mega-inflated richard bowling particularly well from the pavillion end and biff himself taking a frankly incredible 4-8 including another psm catch from jerry . Unfortunately we couldn’t get the final few wickets and Twineham held out for a spirited draw on 155-8.
We then retired to the Royal Oak for some decent Harveys ( yes i’m talking to you Rob ) and a well earned rest.
